Title: Instrumentation Query - Audio Logger

Hi everyone,

 As an acoustics consulting firm, we get a wide variety of projects. Recently, we've been asked to investigate the mechanical systems of a 40-yr old condo bldg.  The retiree owner/ occupants hear "strange bumps in the night".  Unfortunately, the pesky sound never shows up when we're on site to pin down its source.

 We've tried a laptop with Sound Forge running overnight, but post-processing is a big chore.  And get this: the 1st unit in which we deploy it is occupied by a nice older lady who uses a MAC and (understandably) balked at the prospect of having to deal with the MS-Windows environment!

 So, we're trying to source (or develop) an easy to use "Audio Logger" with the following feature set:
- digital audio recorder
- 12 to 24 hrs capacity in some modes
- sample rates from 8k to 44.1k
- mic pre-amp & input connector (XLR & phantom pwr)
- line level input & connector (for B&K SLM analog o/p recording)
- post-trigger capture mode (to prevent recording silence)

Give this site a try ... You should be able to find the software you need and you might need ti call them about setting up a system for the vibration logging.(I know you said thump ... but I think if you think to it a a loud vibration it will help)
