I've got a bad feeling about this new "reality" show: http://www.history.com/shows/power-and-ice

Someone else had already registered "Deadliest Flash".

When will these crappy shows stop!?!?!?!?! ::)

Of course, this show is going to feature three different crews doing dangerous things under time pressure. And, of course, the TV producer is going to want to see sparks flying and guys falling off power lines, etc... Seems like a bad idea to me.

It's simply shocking.
Oh com on...you were all thinking it! ;D
Let's see, how about Extreme Tiddily Winks or Samurai Chess Masters.
Every time I end up channel surfing in a hotel in the US my brain turns to mush with all the "reality" bullshit shows. ::)

With names like "Bam-bam" and "Whiskey" I can see this going well.

Looks like yet another in of the genre of Ice Road Truckers, this time, for Wiremen.
-
Let's use this thread to critique the show if any of us watches. I've got to see at least one of these episodes just for shits and grins.

From the first episode: http://www.history.com/shows/power-and-ice/videos
"Three companies battle to keep power flowing in the remote, frozen Alaskan wilderness. Extreme locations, avalanches, and the constant threat of electrocution stand in their way."
I've not had a chance to watch this yet, but I'm guessing we could turn it into a pretty good drinking game. ;)

So on this show, how are the losers paid? Seems like a winner takes all kind of a deal-though even they might have a few missing digits or limbs before they are victorious.
-
I lost interest in the show so couldn't watch the whole thing... I accidentally came back and caught the teaser reel at the end and the teaser is worth watching IMO, the show not so much.

I watched it. If this were "reality" I would be very concerned. If taken at face value then the smart people in Alaska don't work as linemen, then are Ice Road Truckers.
These shows do there best to make ordering a ham sandwich for lunch look like a live or die nail-biter
There was one good line. A worker yelled to a cameraman to got out of line with a chain that was about to be put under load because if it broke he could be killed.

The line crews I've met all put safety above all else. That doesn't make for very dramatic TV (until a non-lineman gets in the way).

You won't meet the crews that don't put safety first-at least not in this life.

One of my EE instructors once told me "There are OLD electricians, and BOLD electricians, but very few OLD & BOLD electricians. I take my time with the stuff and don't let anyone distract me.

Don't be a show-off. Never be too proud to turn back. There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots.

Yeah, you don't want to look like this guy, who separated a Cam Lok while the energized circuit was still under load.

Thought I'd watch a show just to see. No electrical fireworks yet-but a guy just wrecked his snow machine. He says, "I usually wreck-just not this bad." Kind of the same attitude as the guy who says , "My guitar amp usually bites, but not this bad"?
I'm thinking you can't pay me enough to work with this guy around high voltage!
