Title: ESA Event Safety Guide
Post by: Michael Perron on February 08, 2013, 06:58:30 PM
I’d like to strongly encourage everyone to take a look at the public review draft of the Event Safety Guide being developed by the Event Safety Alliance.  A free copy is available to anyone who registers on the website http://www.eventsafetyalliance.org/Home.aspx (http://www.eventsafetyalliance.org/Home.aspx).

For those of you unfamiliar with the document, here’s a link to FOH Online discussing the safety guide: http://www.fohonline.com/news/7539-event-safety-alliance-to-debut-north-america-event-safety-guide-at-event-live-expo.html (http://www.fohonline.com/news/7539-event-safety-alliance-to-debut-north-america-event-safety-guide-at-event-live-expo.html)

And here’s an article from PLSN about the Event Safety Alliance: http://www.plsn.com/news/21-news/9048-event-safety-alliance-to-meet-april-23-with-indiana-safety-officials.html (http://www.plsn.com/news/21-news/9048-event-safety-alliance-to-meet-april-23-with-indiana-safety-officials.html)
[Edit]

I am very excited about this document, and would love to hear your opinions on its merits and shortcomings.  I am trying to spread the word about the Safety Guide, but I do not work for the ESA.

This is my first post to the Lab, so a little introduction:
I’m currently working as a freelance production manager and designer for theatrical events in the Southern California area.  I have a fair amount of professional concert experience and tend to be a very hands-on, ride-the-faders type mix engineer.

Thanks,

-kirk

FWIW, I don't give out my name and email address to an unknown 'organization'.  The doc may be great, and the cause is certainly just, but I'll never 'join' with a blind invitation.

Hey Kirk, welcome to The LAB!

Maybe you can post the text for us so we won't need to register.

Hey guys,
I understand that you’re cautious toward a newcomer.  I’m a little uncomfortable posting the document without permission, but I’ll try to give some credibility to the organization.
