We have a all purpose facility. Metal building, about 60' wide by 90' long. It is 36' to the peak of the ceiling. It was designed and almost completed before anyone thought about sound.
The reverb in this building is (for lack of a better word)overwhelming. The walls are carpeted about 14' up. Speech intelligibility is a big problem, especially when the preacher gets excited. I realize that some acoustic treatment is the permanent answer. Is there anything else that may help?
I was told that if you add reverb through a processor that you can somehow reverse the effects of the reverb somewhat. They said it was like reverse psychology on the building. Will this work? Another person suggested a thick wire stretched from one end of the building to the other. Are these fixes myth or do these things actually work. This is only one of several problems we are experiencing. Lack of a sound budget being the largest problem. Any advice is welcomed.
