Broadway Strike
« on: November 19, 2007, 07:04:10 pm »

Twenty seven Broadway shows are dark due to the strike of IATSE Local One against the League of Broadway Theatre Owners and Producers. Union musicians and actors are not crossing the picket lines. Collective bargaining negotiations between the League and the union broke down over the weekend, and now except for the few shows not affected by the strike, no Broadway shows until after Thanksgiving. The economic impact will be tough on the New York City economy. I hope that the striking union sound technicians, as well as the rest of  the stagehands, actors and musicians who are out of work will be able to get through the holidays, since it doesn't look like this strike is going to be end before then.
