so, these aren't too normal, but we have a show end of next week requiring a decent amount of power distributed in small packages... so, here's what we're throwing at it... front pic only Smile

Here is what I don't get. How do these 1RU amps deliver sooo much power? I understand that they cost significantly more than most other amps. But still. I am just dazzled

Just looked around on that site.  Wow!!  They need 45 amps EACH on the input!!

Those aren't amp's they're arc welders!   Laughing  Laughing

(and don't try cutting off the A/C plug and replacing it with a 15 amp-er on those baby's!!!!)

Simple: "they cost significantly more than most other amps."

US$ 4K to 8 or 9K per - or thereabouts. (I couldn't find then at Musician's Fiend Mad )

Ask Mr. Prescott. He tried them before he finally realized "I don't need no stinkin' amps."

I was also on a gig where they were being trialled.

They were great...but from memory quite heavy....and obviously quite expensive.

Couldn't quite make out the Powersoft models for sure...

Bottom three in each rack look like K10s and the top two are K6s? Close?

They're not really all that expensive. I'd expect you could find a K6 for not too much more than $3,000. IMO the prices are pretty competitive with what Camco and Lab Gruppen are charging these days. If you're running a 2 Ohm load per channel, they make good sense.

And Jamie, they're only 26 lbs. I suggest you spend some time in the gym if you think that's heavy. Either that or come help me push my Crest Pro-Tour rack around for a couple of weeks.  Laughing

What kind of a distro do you use to run 40 amplifiers that need 45 amps each!

I guess Mr. Bensen was a happy man the day that you called him...

FWIW, about two weeks ago I swapped a Dolby Lake into the spot formerly occupied by a DR480 and 3231LTs, and I will NEVER go back.
