LED retrofits for moving mirror and yoke lights?
« on: August 24, 2007, 09:33:39 PM »

Is there any chance this could be worthwhile in the future?  RGB leds might be a bit complicated to expand what color offerings a fixture might have, but could a drop in led replace a traditional big, bright, and hot bulb?  An easy example is that we have a bunch of nice flood light yokes that need 250 euro bulb replacements.  This might also breath some life into our old scanners.  I know led based lights already exist, but we already have the housings and control electronics.

I doubt that LED technology will replace the discharge lamps anytime soon as far as fixtures that produce images, but RGB LED's could certainly begin to replace some of the color-mixing yokes out there. Just a matter of time and market-demand.
