LS1004 will have a little more output and possibly go lower.

Most folks that use the LS808 are VERY happy with them.

The LS1004 has a tendency to disappoint people. Seems like it's easy to bottom out the drivers before getting as much output as anticipated from the cabinet.

One would taste like an apple and the other like an orange. It's tough to compare these subs when they really aren't in the same ball park. I'd say 1 LS1004 > 1 LS808, but 1 LS1004 < 2 LS808's.

I'd recomend adding the LS1208 to your consideration pile.  Big as sin, but quite the performer.  I've not heard the LS1004, but I have used the LS808, the LS1208 & the TX9s and the LS1208 seems to be the bang for the buck winner.  Assuming it's overall volume doesn't make it too hard to transport.
