seperate 1/3 octave pink noise files..where to find?
« on: August 12, 2007, 08:46:31 PM »

Hi
I'm looking to down load a set of individual 1/3 octave
noise files for speaker analysis. I've google my self to death.
Anyone know where to find them.

I have a Peavey Autograph which has band pass filters for
the separate 1/3 octave rta display..I've been tempted to
run pink thru it and with the cover off go in and tap off
the output of each B/P filter and make wave files of each..
that being the last resort.

I have Smaart and other analysing gear with the usual
20-20k band of noise, but have in the past had the luxory
to use seperate bands one at a time to 'zero' in on areas
of interest w/out 'fighting the remaing spectrum. This is
a test where I'm using only my ears and on occasion, the lower register with my eyes too.

Thanks

So what did you use in the past?

The problem with using individual sources for system alignment is that the filter being used to both generate and measure are not brick walls and stop at the ends of the freq band.  There will be overlaps that will interfere with adjacent bands.

Why are you using an autograph if you have Smaart?

I use individual pink noise bands all the time (via audio toolbox whcih can give many different choices of bands of noise) for troubleshooting but NEVER for system alignment.

For every complicated question-there is a simple- easy to understand WRONG answer.

Can I have some more talent in the monitors--PLEASE?

Hi Ivan

The autograph itself is a 28 band geq. It does not use gyrator type notch filters in the opamp negative feedback loop to boost
or cut a given band. It uses as some other brands do a bandpass
filter set.
Buy going in and tapping off the outputs of each and everyone of these lil b/p filters while pink is running thru them gives
me a way to record each filters output one at a time as a wave
file into the pc for future p/back.
No this peavey rig is vary old and has been shelved for years
its just a way to get the b/pass pinks recorded and replayable.

Hope that clarifies

Thanks you so much for your responce
