Fixture Profile for ADJ Dynasty Scan in Elation Compu?
« on: July 07, 2007, 03:17:03 PM »

I just purchased Elation's Compu Live software and serveral American DJ Dynasty Scans (along with outher lights), but was a little suprised to find that there is no pre-loaded profile in the scanlibrary.

I am very, very new to software-based dmx control and not confident that I could write a good profile in the editor.

So does anyone know if ADJ/Elation has writen .ssl that's availble for download?

(Otherwise, I'm considering returning the fixtures and going with something different).

Thanks for your help!!!

Name change first (Full Names required in profile.)

Then a couple of answers.

It's actually very simple to create. Use the SCAN LIBRARY EDITOR.

A very good way to get up to speed on the vernacular, and understanding the DMX protocol.

You can create from "scratch" - or use an existing profile and modify.

I do not have the list in front of me - but I believe there are other 6-channel ADJ profiles that are very close to your instrument.

You may find that instrument frustrating if it's for live band situations. Dimmer? 16-bit movement?

I'd go to the Elation forum.  Chances are it is available but was written after the software version you have was released.  Should be a simple download.

Second Tony's suggestion to create the profiles yourself, based on the DMX map included in the manual for the fixtures.

No other exercise in the world will better help you understand your software, your fixtures, and DMX control in general.
