Rack Showoff Thread - Merged
« on: October 11, 2006, 08:27:17 PM »

Alright... I wanna see what is in your Rack Cases... I always enjoy seeing other peoples rack cases and seeing what gear they are working with.  And I usually ask "what peice of gear are you using for what?"

So lets see a Picture of your Rack Case with what each peice of gear do you own in that rack and what is your intended purpose for that peice of gear.

Well here is my picture of my gear:
http://www.geocities.com/mattvivsound/Photos/100_0365.jpg
Link to my pic: http://www.geocities.com/mattvivsound/Photos/100_0365.jpg

I have the following in my racks:
AMP RACK
DBX 233XL - Cross-Over
QSC RMX850 - Subs amps
QSC RMX2450 - Mains amps

PROCESSOR RACK
Furman Power Conditioner
Peavey Q231FX - dual 31 band EQ for both Mains and Monitors
MDX1600 compressor/gate/limiter - System Compression

The Red and Yellow tape around the Amp Rack is there because one bars that I run sound for wants red and yellow tape around the amp so that nothing else was pluged into the same outlet, only amps get to be pluged in to the "special" red and yellow outlet also.

I'm using: EV QRx212 over JBL SRX718s(2) with Crown IT's and MRX512m & MRX525 on monitors with XTi's; all controlled by Yamaha LS9-32.  I have a bunch of other stuff too.

This is in an 8RU Gator roller rack. Changed to a 10RU SKB clone with a 2RU CD player added on the bottom (no new pics).

Behringer DSP 8024 - monitors (deep unit so on top for cable storage/routing)
American DJ PDP with voltmeter & lights
dbx DRPA - mains
Lexicon MPX200
Behringer Virtualizer Pro - not used much, ought to ebay it.
Behringer Multicom Pro -4x comp marked voc1, voc2, bass, kick
Behringer Multicom Pro -4x comp marked voc3, voc4, spare, snare

Shown in the roller area filler is a RTA mic input I made for the DSP8024 because it's on the back.

On the back of the new 10RU rack is an I/O Panel for the drpa and DSP8024. Comps are arranged for ease of plugging in 2 4x insert cables.

This is the SIM3 rack for system analysis of a Meyer Rig.
index.php/fa/6191/0/
On top is a rackmount PC for running the Soundweb software.
Next are the 2 soundwebs for 8in x 16out & level/eq control.
Next is the automated switchover unit to insert the SIM inline.
Next is a power conditioner.

In the lower rack is the SIM3 and the microphone interface/switcher.

The soundwebs have recently been replaced by a Galileo.

Andrew, very nice. How deep is that computer at the top of the rack? I would expect it to be pretty deep, and perhaps want to be at the bottom of the top section for extra support. SIM3 sure is a step up from SIM2.

Thanks, Mac. It did take a while to find a 1u computer that wasn't 24+ inches deep. This one's about 18". It was sourced by our buyer but I can find out the manufacturer if you're interested. I never used the SIM2 but have seen them. The 3 is quite a machine and it's always amazing to me to find how MAPP's predictions always come true in the SIM3 analysis. With the direct connection to the Galileo, the custom switcher is also not needed. We're waiting for the cables to arrive for that but when it does it'll be uber-slick, I'm sure...
