Here's my "new" toys:

index.php/fa/9076/0/

Two Yamaha SM12IV monitors. The previous owner took off the logos and put black fabric over the horns, but it doesn't seem to affect the sound quality. They're in pretty good shape; the only thing is it looks like one of the dust covers on the middle of one of the woofers was replaced, because it sounds the same as the other, it just looks larger. For $250, I think I got a good deal. Now I just have to find more money and work out a drum monitor that's not huge...hey Tom...

Why do I need cymbal overheads? I'll just use SM58s on the vocals.

Thanks everybody!

Tom- Mine won't stay clean forever, even though I'll do everything to keep it that way!  Speaking of clean I'm obviously going to get a case for this thing - any suggestions on a good one?

Evan- No worries, the idea of this thread was to show off whatever new stuff your giddy about.  I don't have any problem with people asking questions/giving advice about them.  Heck I'm always happy to learn about what speakers are out there as I'd eventualy like to upgrade mine; not that I have any money now... and whatever I have should be going into college where I'm getting my degree in all of this... yet, I'm just too impatient and so I keep buying more new toys!

Such a vicious cycle...

You'd like MT Cases very much:
http://www.mtcases.com
You're in Chicago, it's convenient.

I posted about them once here:

Road Ready made me a case, pretty nice.
Just like the Mackie/24 case with wheels.
No doghouse though  Mad
I think it was under $300.
Case doesn't keep it clean, just un-bent.

I'll be in Burbank June 23rd if you want to come check things out.
In the mean time, the Soundcraft box makes an excellent transport mechanism ...ductape the corners for that authentic look.

Phil-
These dont have the VHF100's. Sad
Thanks for all the other tips.
Ill see what I can do. Ive already been on the phone with Community.
Evan

Hey Evan, You will find the community drivers fairly priced.  Personally I think the upgrade expense is worth it.  I never liked the community cab high end until I experienced boxes with the VHF100.

It would be worth checking to see what a driver, crossover, and diffraction-fighting foam upgrade would be per box.

PS Very nice little rig, I am jealous.  I would love to design a triamp mod for and of the RS/SLS boxes if free time was not an issue.

Well at least that's in my price range.  Now that you mention a doghouse though...

I'm guessing to get one with a doghouse though I'm gonna have to get it custom built correct?

It's such a shame that they put you and such a nice board in such a bad mix position  Confused

Some of the people who lay out these clubs/bars/ect really don't have the slightest clue.
