Have others noticed much difference between regions of the US by their cars?  I haven't been East much, but MN/ND/KS area domestics seem to be loved, and there doesn't seem to be much knowledge of imports (thankfully changing; no offence).

Out here in Seattle/Portland in general, Honda/Nissan/Toyota/Subie are the darlings, domestics overall don't get much respect.  BMW and other 'status' cars aren't as popular, with all the little mechanical/elctrical gremlins that are annoying, except for those that can really afford them.

OK I'll list my past cars too:
'80 Datsun PU (sold for $50, chopped, raced camaros!)
'84 S-10 Blazer (biggest p.o.s. EVER)
'88 Cavalier Z24 (sold for $150)
'90 New Yorker
'92 Olds88
'89 Sentra (recently put down, 225k miles)
'91 Sentra (raced to death, 185k miles)
'90 240SX (best handling car ever driven!)
'91 Q45

Not too shabby a list for a 25yr old!  Too bad I had to go through all the junkers to learn how things work (sound analogy).  Now, it's Nissan/Infiniti.  Next car, likely a QX4, and hopefully a VH45DE supercharded under the hood  Very Happy  Then a little 'daddy car', 240SX with same supercharged or turbo'ed VH45DET.

Practical dream car?  350Z with forced induction V8 and all the suspension/brake/etc mods.

You'd be amazed what people have out here....

last night i counted 3 Honda S2000's cruising the strip.... Last summer only one guy had one.

Then one guy has a Lotus Exige thats this same exact model/color
http://www.autoblog.it/uploads/lotus_exige_s_02.jpg

They're is a whole crew of Civic SI hatchbacks, ranging from about 3 2005+ and then about 4-6 older guys. Even a few CRX's that are still kicking around...

They're the nissan crew of about.... 2 people Razz

Then there are the "Confederates" as they're called with their jacked up Chevy Big 10's painted yellow like general lee.

What we're missing is the mini-truckers, I've been tempted to start making one just to be the one in town. Razz Even though they have no point.

'99 Ford F-150 extended cab. Nice comfortable truck.

'96 Chevy Silverado extended cab (267,000 miles, runs like a champ).

'92 Plymouth Voyager (actually, just took this one to my mother, a 2004 Buick doesn't haul garden stuff too well)

Doesn't get much uncooler than this, eh?... Laughing

Mini-truckers?  Embarassed  You mean small pickups that are slammed?  My ignorance is showing again.

We thought about that at work as well, as there are definitely some who knowingly or not judge a company by what you drive up in.  For us, a full size SUV, almost new, nice and reliable but not extravegant.  Company car was close, late model Expedition, with company name, logo, and contact email and phone numbers.  For those wondering, this is an install, not production company.

Mini-rant on:
When are carmakers going to make cars with plenty of power on tap?  For example, a Honda Accord with, say, 400HP?  Switchable between 'average Joe' and 'scary fast' levels of big brother reigning things in.  Even the new 350Z, fun as it is, isn't scary fast.  Ignoring practicality for a moment, of course.

Wasn't me, tho' I drove mine to my gig last night.  A four-space rack and a bag o' mics fits in the trunk, too.

"Scary" is the idea that the Standard Moron should be behind the wheel of any vehicle more powerful than a Toyota Corolla.

Anyways, I don't think I'd want to drive something that delivers 400 HP to the front wheels.  Can you say "torque steer?"  Can you say "broken wrist?"  I knew you could.

Imagine the insurance penalty you'll pay for a 400 HP vehicle, especially if you're male and under 30 years old.  Imagine your monthly insurance payment being more than the loan payment.  Imagine your monthly gasoline bill.

As Peter Parker's wise Uncle Ben said, "With great power comes great responsibility."

So I'm in the S2K, top down as always, at a stop light on Speedway Blvd (actual name of a main east-west artery in Tucson), in the right lane.  A newish Corvette is in the middle lane, with a greybeard behind the wheel. A kid in a bondo Civic with a fart pipe is in the left lane, revving his engine.  The light changes and the Civic takes off, and the Vette and I sorta just lumber along.  Eventually we get to the next traffic light, half a mile down the road, and we see the Civic pulled over by one of TPD's finest.

You're telling me! You guys know snow. The only thing that comes close is the Bridgestone Blizzak, thats what I put on all my family's fancy 4WD cars, but these are better. I can tell the difference.

My previous car was a Saab 9000 CSE, which is also Scandanavian, and I loved. Unfortunately, it didn't love me. Let's just not talk about it.
