Since cars come up a lot, we need a thread about them.  I sold cars in a past life, it's a strong part of me.  

Favorite brand, Nissan/Infiniti.  Current ride, '91 Infiniti Q45.  V8, RWD, lots up power upgrading possible.  I must be getting old, I passed up a 240SX for this!  Needed room for child seat.

Any good car buying stories?  Dream cars you want to buy/restore?

I have a '93 Q45, silver, taupe interior, with Mille Migia MMII deep-dish 6 spokes and 225/55-15s.  (Thank goodness for traction control!  Without it, on a wet road this thing will swing it's tail around faster than a hooker at a porno convention.)  (It's not much better with the stock tires and wheels - which look like pie plates - UGLY! ).  It's a bigger car than I wanted, but when I got it in '96 there were not yet any used A4 Quattros, the BMW 320i was too noisy & had a very frumpy interior, and the Lexus 400 was just no fun to drive at all (a high quality version of your father's Oldsmobile).  Now there are plenty of A4s, but "ah ain't got no money".  But other than when there's snow on the road, I still like my Q a lot.  One of these days it won't be worth the cost of repair though - 'twill be a sad day indeed.

When I was a lad, my uncle had a "dirty yellow" 51 Merc two-door with a flathead V8 and black Naugahide upholstery by Tony Nancy.  The old flathead was so quiet, uncle put in a tachometer just so he could tell whether the engine had started.  Damned if he didn't sell it before I was old enough to drive

Started out with a 1988 Chevy Sprint. aka Geo Metro with a 3 cylinder engine and a 5 speed. That thing got me zipping around town all over. Then first gear went out on it at the parents said it had to go (I was in high school)

Then i was handed down my family's 1990 ford tempo... that thing was a tank, took about 5 minutes to get up to 75, but it got me places.

Then I picked up my current pickup. a 2003 S10. I wasn't ready for a full size as parking a full size in the apartments i was living it was just asking for it to be hit buy somebody flying through the parking lot like a crazed idiot.

Dream cars... man where to start... I have a thing for weird cars that no one else would want...

1998 Vord E350 Super Duty, V10, bought new, 455,000 miles on chassis, current powertrain from Downs Motorsports has about 13,000 miles on it and makes just over 500 horsies. She'll hit 60 in under 7 seconds and scares everyone but me.

2006 Mazda6, actually the fiance's car. We skipped the "sport" body package but bought all the performance/chassis upgrades. Surprisingly quick yet totally subtle.

I don't have the time to list everything else that I've owned through the years, but there will always be a special place in my heart for my 1984 CJ7 that I built from the ground up with a Chevy 350, Ford T18, and Dana 60s from a Dodge.

My stock 300+ HP cobra mustang is puny by comparison. Even my old '93 with a blower (RIP) was probably still less than 400 HP, That old Fox chassis was a flexible flyer, I trust the new running gear can handle 500HP. The 'stangs never were known for good handling. Will they have IRS on that 500HP beast?

One feature I'd really like on a go fast scooter is the smart brake steering, which would be useful in the occasional downpours I encounter. I'm an old ford lover but the corvette package looks pretty good.

I've got the "working man's A4", a 2003 Volkswagen Passat with the 1.8T 4 banger, 5 speed manual, front wheel drive. Giving it the test today, so far the traction control and my Nokian Hakkapeliittas have been able to take the winter weather, but this slushy ice crap seems to have everyone off the road.

I love the car, but the newer model year Passats just ain't the same thing, so I'm going Audi for the next one. S4 with Quattro if I can swing it.
