Your IEC cables are ruining your rigs.....
« on: March 14, 2007, 01:29:23 PM »

I hate to give this guy any more press, but this was just too funny.

Check out Jack Alexander's latest article in LiveSound! magazine.  It's about cabling, and he buys completely into the audiophile hokum, especially regarding IEC power cables.  I just love the idea that having 3' of $1000 cable at the end of a 250' run of $.10/ft. Romex is going to improve your system.

Don't get me wrong, good quality cabling is important, but not for the reasons he purports here.  His opening argument about the 700ft. of 16ga. speaker wire is not the issue, it's the stuff that follows.  I'd love to have this guy over for a properly conducted ABX session sometime.

Check it out if you want a good 2 minute chuckle.

Man Jens, get on the bandwagon. All the venues I work at I made them replace all the power cabling that I tie into with solid gold cable all the way back to the power plant. My feeder is solid platinum 6/4. You wouldn't believe how good it makes my Behringer rig sound  Laughing

I tried to get our company president to carry that $1k IEC crap, I know we have enough rich and wacked people to make great ROI.  Something about ethics and not being able to sleep at night...

Very Happy

Evan, I know a guy here in town who uses a Behringer mixer INTO a Bose pogo-system. I guess that's the ultimate system, a "Boseringer"....

It's the closest thing to a Vocalmaster you can find..
