OT: Digicam for live room photos?
« on: February 14, 2007, 11:44:36 am »

Hi all,

Sorry this is off topic and I didn't see a forum here for off topic stuff. But I thought it may have come up with some of you who do bar gigs.

I'd like to invest in a better digital camera to capture photos of bands and crowds during gigs at my pub.

Right now I have a old Kodak 2megapixel thing that is VERY slow.

I'd like to have better dark room flash performance and MUCH better performance in terms of how many photos per second I can take. I'd like to be able to snap as many photos in a short period of time as is reasonable to get a better chance of catching that "great shot".

We have a EOS Rebel at home that's GREAT (about 3 pics/sec), but the wife won't let me keep it here (it's for getting reams of photos of the kids. Also, I'm hoping to not spend nearly as much money as that thing cost!

Anyone have any thoughts on a great performance/photo quality/bang for the buck?

I was gandering at the Canon Powershot S2 IS on bhphotovideo.com

That's a reasonable price point (~$300 range give or take).

Thanks,

Paul
