Design 36 and OPTI RGB
« on: January 19, 2007, 03:15:03 am »

I just got a chance to see the Elation Opti RGB and thought it was comparable to a Par 56 300W (if you gel the par).  However, I cannot find anyone in town (Nashville) that actually has a Design 36 to look at.  I know that it has 12 more LEDS but I am curious as to how the lens helps distribute the beam.  The OPTI had some hotspots in the middle of the beam on a few colors (orange and yellow) but nothing I couldn't work around. In addition I was wondering if it is the same LED technology in both.  I have got a price of $640 for the design 36 and $425 for the Opti (I don't want to mention from who since it is below map) but part of me wonders if this is still too much considering the new technology of LED cans?  Any thougts on how these two cans compare against each other and other cans on the market it is well appreciated.  And any real world comparsion is really appreciated.  Thanks!
