Can anyone refer me to a dealer who understands a bands lighting needs and can give me good pricing?

I'm new to the field of lighting so I need someone who will also be able to guide me.

  Hello Chony,

  If you've taken on the responsibility of a Group's lighting, then, I'd suggest visiting a few clubs of the type, where your Band might play, to see exactly what they have.

  Start reading manufacturer's specs sheets. Get a book on theatrical lighting, and start a subscription to some of the Staging Magazines for some interesting reading.

  You need to understand some of the principles behind the lighting fixture designs and their intended uses.

  If you don't know what to ask for....how will you know that your needs will be covered? Or...if they're over-selling you?

  Find a local squint that you can learn from, offer to pay him for some time to help design a system that's flexible and offers a good value.

thats what always gets people when i quote them prices of stuff

yes, each of these lights does cost $14,000, and yes, I do need 40 of them for the show...

if you think lightings expensive, take a look at pyro

lights are cheap

Don't forget that lighting requires mains power.

Make sure your venues have it.

Chony; How complicated do you envision your needs are?
Two light trees on the downstage edges with 4 lights each to give a basic wash?
Front and back truss with movers?
Truss Box around the stage with S4's, movers, LED's??
