Do you trust your rigging?
« on: October 10, 2010, 08:10:23 PM »

This soundman seems to:

Nylon strapping had been tied end to end, then looped over the arch and back around the wrought-iron spade.  Shocked

I'm a little late on posting this, but I just found it flipping through my phone and had to share.

The basic idea was right, but used the wrong materials and the least-desirable of the convenient (I didn't say safest) attachment points.  We also don't know if the attachment to the loudspeaker cabinet is legit or Homer-Brewed.  My bet is on Homer.

Presuming the speaker points are "real", using round slings (let's say SteelFlex) to choke off where the 2 ornamental iron pieces meet (above where the pic shows it done now), and a shackle to connect the slings to the loudspeaker suspension points would be the foundation of hanging these speakers.

It would cost more than some cheap packing straps, but would be lightyears ahead in safety.  This is an accident waiting to happen.

That pull-back strap looks pretty fishy, too!
