I suspect for the same reason the iPod didn't have a radio tuner when it was released. That's not what it's supposed to do.

Great, now I want one.

Gotta get you to a Gear Syndrome Anonymous meeting! Laughing

Great, yeah, sure. Murphy's law, they would pick the day that my PowerBook went toes up! Mad
Oh well, at least my Nokia still works. Confused

I knew there was a reason I wouldn't sign a new contract with Verizon. Now I wonder who will carry the iPhone and provide the service. Dang!

Mike, I think I need that GSA Meeting also!

The only real problem with it? Once someone knows you have one and you don't respond to an e-mail in 60 seconds flat, they feel ignored (I know someone that received an e-mail from a client at 8:30am, then again at 8:35, 8:36, 8:37 and 8:40. at 8:45am they got an e-mail saying that they "must not want their business" and he lost the contract

Well if that someone was too dumb to simply call the person, or to impatient to wait for an answer I don't think I would want to do business with them either! Rolling Eyes

Oh, FWIW I use a Nextel / Motorola i530. It's Rugged as hell, very basic, and best of all I get it for free because my day job pays for it  Very Happy

I've put it through the ringer (haha no pun intended) and it still works fine. We drop them off of ladders at work, people I know have left them in their clothes and ran them through the washing machine, dropped them in puddles, and they still keep going. I keep my ringer on vibrate all the time and wear it clipped to my side on my belt. That way it doesn't ring at inappropriate times, and I can hear it when at a loud venue.

Wow. iPhone is everything you old-timers don't want it to be! Great stuff, eh?  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

It puzzles me that the thing doesnt have 3G support, only the "2 1/2G EDGE)? Do you not have 3G networks in the US?

I wonder if that means my regular local Cingular dealer will have the phone.

That's what they say. You will be able to buy the phone at a Cingular store or the Apple store. The price will be the same. Two year contract required. They're not shipping till June though. I like the little Bluetooth headset that goes with it.
