Comp drivers
« on: January 04, 2007, 03:10:11 am »

My current system uses JBL 2441 comp drivers but I'd like to find something a bit less weighty as these puppies are 24lbs even before adding a horn and a box. I'm attracted to the neodymium/beryllium 2435HPL drivers but whilst I can find any amount of gushing descriptave stuff on about them, I can't find any actual hard specs. It is described as having a 75W AES power rating wheras the 2441 is shown as 70W@500Hz, 150W@1kHz program and half those values for pink noise. I cannot find an apples vs apples comparison. What I really need to know is in my system, crossed over at 1200Hz & 24dB/oct, will there be any downsides in terms of power capacity or sensitivity in upgrading to the beryllium drivers ?.

You might want to vist the Lansing Heratige Website. In the JBL Forum there are many informed Pro JBL users who share their experiences.

The JBL 2450 is the current Neo replacment for the 2440 series of compression drivers.
