Running intels off AC power inverter
« on: December 20, 2006, 11:26:15 AM »

... got a situation I may be running some intels off of an AC power inverter but wanted to ask here first.  I've run audio gear off of them without a hitch but never lights.  I have some American DJ Performance Scan 250 and Par64 LED's.  The P Scan's look like just an iron core transformer at the bottom (no wonder they're so damn heavy!).  Most inverters run off of square waves but I don't see isn't anything special about an intel light running off an inverter.  Thoughts?

Run discharge film lamps, fluorescents etc. off of inverters all the time, electronic and w/w ballasts. No problems really, aside from doing your sums for striking current and power factor correction. Bear in mind, it doesn't take much on the HV side before you are pulling some serious current from the batteries.
