Demo's
« on: February 01, 2007, 12:13:51 AM »

I am in the market for a new mixer. I want a mixer that is going to double as a Foh or true monitor board. What would be your preference and why? How do I go about getting to demo some of these models?

Thanks
Brad Gibson

How many channels do you need?

# of channels?
Budget?
Analog or digital?
# of mixes as a monitor console?
Rider issues?

Fill in some of the details and answers will be much easier.

I want a min of 32 but would like to see 40.  I work with every thing from church festivals to national rock bands so riders can be an issue.  Besides I want a real mixer.  My budget has not been set but some where around $5k.

How many monitor mixes?

It will tough to meet this for $5k unless you go used.

A new GB8-40 is nice but over your budget I think.

Especially once you figure in the cost of a good case.

I don't mind buying used.  I just want to see what my options are.  I have a Midas Venice 320 that I want to do some kind of trade on.  I love my Midas but I just find that I am always limited in some way.  I want something that has at least 8 auxs and has eight groups.  I want this to be my primary mixer so Foh functions are a must.  I do alot of shows at a local club that has a 40 frame 8 vca Sound Craft at Foh. This board will be brought in for monitors on  bigger shows so this board needs to be a fully functional monitor mixer.   I would like to see some where about 5k-6k for mixer and case.

Ok, sell the Venice and get a GB8 soundcraft with a good case. That should make it at $5k + the Venice?

If this isn't too much board for you, it's something to elevate you to the big league...
