I'd like to further expand with something that I've noticed, and that is: PA companies that have their own 'proprietary' wedge or cabinets usually do so at cause of manufacturer's own 'proprietary' processing and amps. I still seem to run into this alot, this "If I can't change everything that I want to change, then it's crap and I can build better, just cause I have control over everything" mentality and I'm sick of it. The money that big PA companies spend on R&D isn't spent picking paint color, and as was recently pointed out on the LAB building your own isn't even that much cheaper, just for sheer materials needed, not including labor, and forget about R&D budgets.
I'm not saying everyone's proprietary boxes are crap, some are rather quite good (I've vouched for some recently in the wedge shootout thread) but some out there are crap, and I seem to notice this attitude more from people who have the crap boxes, then from people who's boxes rock.
