back link issue
« on: September 02, 2006, 03:34:03 PM »

When I back link out of reading a post instead of returning to the previous screen I go back to a view that is days old. This may be a MAC safari specific issue since I don't recall it on PC based Mozilla/IE browsers.

This seems coincident with recent changes to site.

Is this a personal problem.. any safari users w/o this problem?

I have not been experiencing that problem. I do occasionally get pages that load with no formatting, but they are the right page. I'm running OSX 10.4.7 on a MacBook Pro, with Safari 2.0.4.

My only incorrect-linking issue is that when I finish a reply, it usually takes me to whatever post I last tabbed up, which is often not the same post I was replying to.

Thanx, I'm running a mac mini and don't even know where find the revision level, they apparently keep it somewhere other than where it is on PC based software I am more familiar with.

I spent a little time last night looking at the full text strings in the links it was going to. I suspect its reverting to some old cached page if a link is trashed or it doesn't recognize something just right.

I ask here because I'm not sure it's anything I can fix with a bowser preference.

I find several websites with reduced functionality on apple due to not recognizing some MSFT trix, but this seems new since the recent change.

This whole thing is becoming more work than its worth... thanx anyhow.

OK, I just emptied the safari browser cache and it seems to be behaving OK again. Maybe there's a cache buffer overload or maybe it's just the MACs way of telling me I'm  spending too much time here.... (I am).

JR... I remember an old fishing adage that went; "Time spent fishing cannot be deducted from a man's life." I believe that would be pertinent to the forums also... or am I justifying? Nah!
