We use the Rolls RM75 for such simnple situations.  Cost should be under $150.  Nothing fancy, but works.

If the system you are setting up is stereo the Shure SCM 262 is ideal. However, if you are just setting up a mono system, have a look at the Shure SCM 268.

So while the R.5 looks nice, it is a bit out of budget. I'm now looking at the EV Sx80PI (175W continuous @ 8R), and need an appropriate amp that can stand up to being outside (albeit in a rack). Are there any amps that are particularly suited to the task? I'm looking at the Crown XLS series right now for price.

Thanks,
Ben

I don't think the SX80PI is made anymore (Unless there is some stock still floating around) It was replaced by the ZX1i -90. Designed as weather resistant and comes with mounting bracket. A better speaker IMO (Althogh I have always liked the SX80)

I recently installed 4 of them at a softball field driven by a Soundcraft Gig-rack 600. Sounds great. The whole package could be had for about $1200. (The gig rack is a portable powered mixer which can be rack mounted)

BTW, (for what it's worth) I am a dealer for EV & Soundcraft.

Look at the 1RU offerings from Rolls. IIRC, I've used the RM65 and it was good.
