Yamaha PM7D
« on: August 08, 2006, 10:12:20 PM »

A production company in town has a pair of brand new Yamaha PM7D's on demo.
I have been told they are so new there is not even an paper on them yet. Has anyone seen or heard of this new console yet?
I am trying to get a look at them as soon as i can. I'll post as soon as I see them.

Simple google search... Yamaha has decided that the market wants a single layer. Wonder if they listened about the digi-snake? I'm out until they do.

You might want to check your source on this....That looks a lot like a PM 1D to me...

The page with that picture seems to date from Jan 2006, there is another one from 2001 of the Orbital Sound booth at ABITT. They are both pictures of a PM1D.  As we are getting closer to October, and the annual AES convention, I would not be too surprised if Yamaha is giving sneak peeks at a new product, but I don't think that picture is it.

That's hilarious! I've obviously never seen one of those either. I have seen a humpback whale surface near a boat I was in near the Galapagos a couple of years ago, does that count? :)

This might be why I cross my 7s, because the way I write it's easy to mistake 1s for 7s.

BUT a console that takes the mid ground between PM5D capability and M7CL single layer simplicity might have a market.

And "plug and play" for that digi snake would be nice too.

Me too. It is even easier to mistake with the European style 1.

Or a console between the PM5D and the PM1D. Thirty-two faders on each layer, and remote mic pres. Yeah baby!

They gotta get with it sooner or later. I'd prefer sooner.

Sweet.  I've been mixing on a top-secret prototype for a couple years now.
