Just thought I'd throw this out for comments & opinions: Would you consider the Electro-Voice model QRX212's MI or Pro???

I have used them as sidefills over SRX728 on concert stages, and as house system for everything from small rock gigs to corporates.

Standard flyware is a big plus. It's a perfectly good sounding 2 way box, passive or biamped. I would normally use these powered with PL236A, no problems whatsoever.

The rotatable horn is nice, as well.

It's a great option in that price range, definitely a nice step up from MI.

I have a pair bi -amped over a pair of Danley TH-115's with Ashly Protea 3.6 dsp. I use Evan K's PEQ settings and they sound awesome!! Electric guitar and vocals sound great! But they're definitely still MI.

Dave Dermont:
Definitely still MI? I dunno about that.

A flyable birch box with a rotatable horn that you can bi-amp or use full-range sounds pretty "Pro" to me.

Let's just call 'em a pro box you can buy in a music store.

Along with the applications Mr. Fowler mentions, there is also a horn-in-the-middle version (QRx-212H/75) that makes a pretty smokin' monitor wedge.

IMNSHO, the difference between "Pro" and "MI" is the guy using it.

I look at these rare bargains in Audio as some payback for a lot of the crap that's marketed to aspiring Audio Pros.  These cabinets are a good deal, and have their uses...even in "Pro" environments.
