Check out R-Columbia. Just about the cheapest I've seen that works. (I've used it) and ya don't mind looking geeky with antennas on yer melon. HTH,Rex

In addition to R-Columbia, (which have both wireless stand alone systems, and a wireless to wired system that will interface with a clear com  rig), EARTEC has some nice wireless units, as well as an interface system that allows one of their wireless units to be connected to a wired com system.  Look at the TDx901   system on their page, or for way more money they have a digital system, the DPx1000.

Something like a Motorola 'walkie talkie' works in a pinch.  They can be had for cheap and they offer a plethora of accessories.

In a pinch we wired up an adaptor to use a normal 900mhz phone on a telex system at a theatre. Razz

But i deffinetly wouldn't want to be seen on the road with a bunch of cordless phones with headsets Razz

I'd reccomend the R-Columbia

For down-n-dirty short-range comm, I have found it's hard to beat the lil' ol' Moto Talkabouts with the matching headsets:

Ambient sound levels will dictate whether you can leave VOX on or must switch to PTT.

These are going into chicago public schools, read: might walk away at times.  Ill let faculty decide whether to use walk abouts or the higher end motorolas.  Either option looks like it will work well.  Thanks.
