Greatings from Belgium,


My next project is to distribute 4 stereo music programs in 24 hospital rooms.
The patient would just have a switcher with each music program per button.

The patient will just listen to the music with headphones.

The zone to cover is +/- 2000 square metres.

Can you please help me with your experiences ?
How would you do this ?

I must admit that installed sound is not my main job as I'm mainly doing music/post recording/mixing.
This is another challenge I'd like to take.

I am a little confused, you mention coverage area, but then you say that the patients will need headphones?  Explain in a little bit more detail.

Do you have a map of the hospital you can post?

In fact, the 2000 square metres I mentionned is the surface of the zone where the rooms will be build.
To be honest with you, I just one meeting with the manager, I don't have any plan, it was just the first contact with them.

I found a product called Pump station made by Cloud (www.cloud.co.uk), wich seems to do just what i'm looking for.

I would really appreciate if you have a look on their web site and share your comments.
Do you have any experience with audio through CTA5 cables ?

We have used the Cloud Pump System and many other Cloud products and always had good luck with them.  We have used the Pump System in Dentist offices and even work out gyms with pretty good success.

I don't know what the laws are like in Belgium, but in the United States, you need a low voltage license, a business license, lots of insurance, and the knowledge of the stringent laws pertaining to hospitals to work in one. Simply finding a switcher and running some wires to room will not cut it,  Hospitals have very stringent codes, more so than regular commercial or residential wiring.

Because of the various atmospheres (oxygen rich, hazardous vapors from chemicals, etc), sensitive medical monitoring equipment, high magnetic fields, and other non usual conditions, hospitals present a real challenge to work in.


You need to contact a company that specializes in hospital wiring, and not try to attempt this yourself.

Thanks for the infos and the advices.
In fact, I just showed the product to the client and he was pretty happy with the Cloud solution.
I will  not wire the system myself, the hospital will provide the wiring, I will have to connect the system.
