software for horn loaded cab design
« on: July 04, 2006, 05:30:39 am »

Just starting to play around with speaker cab design for some new mid high packs I would like to build.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for some software to allow placement of a driver within a horn. I am very new to the whole speaker design side of things.

I have a few plans for mid range horn loaded drivers, but I need ones to fit a particular box size so all my tops and subs are the same dims. currently my tops are front baffle loaded and sealed boxes, but would like to experiment with a horn loaded 1x12 with a coaxial mounted 2". I have found a set of plans here (  http://www.speakerstore.nl/index.php?l=en&pg=11&c=12) for exactly what I want however my box size is different.

455mm high, 625mm wide and 625mm deep

Any links would be good, any info would be great.

Just interested in how much additional SPL I could expect to obtain  by changing to a horn loaded mid range before I go down the avenue of actually building the box

Dave

Hopefully just attached the proposed horn loaded layout to suit my box dims

Amended my proposed plans to allow for a deeper horn. This was suggested by another PS user so the compression driver would be located nearer the 12" driver and act as a phase plug, very similar in design to the DB FL10

For simulating, google/download for Hornresp. Use this guide as a kickstart.

With kind regards Johan
