Ignorant me...
« on: June 02, 2006, 07:25:22 PM »

Hi from Spain,

first of all mind my English (not quite used since I left my English studies years ago. Hope you understand me.

The reason of this topic is that, though I've got knowledge about sound gear, I'm completely ignorant on lighting (let's say I just know what a PAR and blinder is like... but nothing more)

I'd like to know if anyone could tell me  of any internet resources or tutorials I could read to learn from the start. From "how to connect a PAR... what is a dimmer, a DMX and how things are connected there...

Anytime I am on a show and running the sound either,
a) the light tech is too busy to talk to me
b) "It's too long to tell you something in a nick of time" (Well man, at least teach me how a bloody lamps is alike Smile)
c) I am the one who has got no time or into trouble.

I just would like to be able to, at least, learn a bit of how things go in lighting.

Thanks all for your comments, suggestions and any kind of answer,

Galvarez

Hola Jose, Don't worry about your English, It's fine.

Here is a simple tutorial on DMX fixtures you may find helpful:
http://www.cheaplights.com/dmxguide.html

Additionally check out the "Study Hall" section of the LAB here:
http://www.prosoundweb.com/studyhall/rig_index.php

and also here: http://www.epanorama.net/links/lights.html

Sorry I don't know of any sites in Spanish but hopefully you can find some info you need there.

Adios Amigo!

Lots of thanks Very Happy, though I had nearly scanned all thethe stuff according to sound in this web I hadn't noticed that it also had info about lighting :S.

I've been onto sound since 15 years more less (from plugging my electric guitar into a electric gizmo to run mixes more less professionally...) perhaps that's why I find sound things quite "logical" and straight "understandable" while seeing things like Sade's "Lovers Live" light desing just makes me think of a miriad of dwarfs turning on and off lots of bulbs really quickly Smile.

Reele thunk yor halp and yor commants ebut mi Englix,

 Gracias colega Smile (Thanks pal)
