How about other major manufacturers such as JBL, Nexo, L'Acoustics etc. who use different technology, do they offer or endorse such (means of) tweaking?

Nexo: NO, because of the mechnism their HF works (they are not line- but tangent-arrays)
d&b: YES, it's built on the D12 amplifiers. There is different HF boost/taming settings for boxes with differentiating throw distances + different setting for J-shaped and flat part of the arrays. This applies to J-series of boxes. For the Q-series there is HF boost for those boxes covering longer distances.
