The damned theme | Pick your poison
« on: January 04, 2011, 02:17:28 pm »

Basically, two skins came with the software. We've been hacking ads into 'em. Wee! You can switch these at will: http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?action=profile;area=theme

The "Core" theme is somewhat similar to the current PSW layout. The "SMF Default - Curve" has copious white space, as has been mentioned. If you find a theme for SMF RC4 that you love, toss me an e-mail and I'll install it for you.

Well, I like this Core theme better than the other one, feels more like the old LAB.

I don't necessarily mind ads on the sides, like the old LAB has--just that they took up way too much of the available space on the sides of the screen.

The default theme has some advantages in that it doesn't have the wasted space on the right, and it keeps the width constant.

It is missing the "quote" button for each post, however.

Let me look into that. "Reply" might be the replacement for quote; I may have hacked that out by accident trying to get ads to display properly.

Edit: Aye, "Reply" does the trick.

Unfortunately, the damned wasted space is back on the right now, with either skin.

Hating.

That's a an ad-server, thing. I'm shoving some content over there; making a thread to request what content the forum community would like to see.

It's still not right.
"Reply" should open up the advanced editor. Right now the only way to get the advanced editor is to "Reply" then "Preview".
No way to reply using the advanced editor without quoting.

Can you put back the "quote" button and keep the reply button for opening the advanced editor?

If the reply button that opens the advanced editor is inside each message that would be fine, the reply button outside the message, at the top and bottom of the thread is a real problem for many of us. It will be used by people to not quote, and will have no reference to the post being responded to.

This loss of an "audit trail" of what a particular message is referring to is unforgivable in a forum that gets used like PSW does.
