Problems with cookies (not Oreos)
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:12:05 PM »

I read the LAB on 3 different computers, at least.  It seems that it is random when I have to sign in, and when I am remembered.  Is there a way to add a non-expiring cookie, so I don't have to log in every so often?  Just today, I have been reading the LAB all day, and I just had to sign in again.  I'd like it if each time I visited, it extended my cookie another (week, month, etc).  I'm just tired (read: lazy) of having to log in on three different machines all the time.  Please let me know if there is a workaround for this.

I use Firefox 1.5 on all machines.  Thanks for all your work, Ernie (and the rest)!

I've been seeing the same problem... seems like before I'd go a month before having to sign in again, which was fine by me since I'm usually on my laptop. Now I find I'm signed out for no apparent reason.

Yup. Ill notice that too. Im on firefox as well. Its weird, Ill just be sitting here, let it idle for a few hours, come back and hit refresh only to see that I have to sign back in... I used to be able to let it sit forever without any problems.

That's odd. I just reset the cookie timeout, increasing it from one week to two weeks. Let's see if that helps. Or perhaps Dave has a better idea?

I'd rather see the sessions time out sooner than later.  I think a week or two is fine.  That way the sessions tables don't get too unruly.    Your browsers should remember your uid:pw combo and I don't thing that logging in every week or so is that big a deal.
