just thought i would post up about my latest bin design. I showed you all the models and the idea a while ago and i have since built a prototype, tested it and am awaiting the wood to come back from the cnc place to build 8 as test phase 2!
right, so I don't have the equipment to do a smaart test etc, but i did a simple easy and dirty test using a signal generator, multimeter and sinwave generator.
obviously this isn't ideal, but i did a lab sub and two hd15's under the same conditions to gain some kind of comparison. all have a notch at 70hz and 125hz which would suggest some kind of measurement/room error. All were standing up with the db meter 1m away, 60cm off the floor
i kept the input voltage reading on the multimeter constant at 2v for the usb, 1.9v for the lab and 1.41v for the hd's (4ohm pd158 loaded in parallel)
I made it so the front area dimentions match the lab. They do go low enough to be used on their own, but this way the labs can provide extra sub weight AND these dimentions fit my tops AND fit well in vans/trucks. they sounded pretty good all the way up to 180hz so can be used as kick bins.
They are loaded with two 18" 600w Celestion Frontlines. Reverse firing through the magnets. They can be built using exactly 2 sheets of 8x4 too!
