YAMAHA AW 16G
« on: April 04, 2006, 04:05:26 am »

Hi.  Here is my story...I have never worked digital. Very old school with analog and I have been asked to learn how to use the aw16g and record a local band while they perform and I run sound.  Anyone?  Confused

You would do much better with this question if you took it to this forum. http://homerecording.com/bbs/

But since you are here, I'll toss you a few pointers...

It can record 8 tracks simultaneously and play back 16 tracks simultaneously but there is only one problem. It only has 2 xlr mic inputs and 6 line level inputs. (for keyboards and such)While you could record a band live, you can only use a few mics to do it. Good luck trying to keep all instruments and vocals separate for future processing and mixdown.

It is mainly intended for tracking one instrument/vocal at a time.

Do not allow any meters to hit red while recording. Unlike analog, this means you are already into the harsh distortion range.

Cheers,
