324 live
« on: February 12, 2006, 02:12:38 PM »

Hello Labies

I am not getting the new search thing I can't get good results so a good point would be cool.

I am looking to put together a small rig.  I have a good start but I am himming and hawing about the mixer.  Mainly cuz I won't be running it most the time.  I have thought about the mix wiz 16:2 and a 16 channel mackie or some older soundcrafts.  Thats when I remembered the 324. Back in the day it looked like a cool little mixer but that was before I dove head first into sound.  So I am looking for thoughts, and does anybody know what they go for used.

Thx
Nate

The O1V96 seems to be the gold standard of small sound company digital mixers at the moment. The 324 never really caught on... I know a few people on the LAB have one and think they're OK, but I know when I build a B rig I'm getting the Yamaha option.

My main issue with the 324 is that you only have 2 dynamics processors in the whole thing to assign.  That, and the interface is a little clumsy.  Not bad sounding, though.

My vote goes to the 01V without question.  And, it's about 1/2 the size of a 324.

Well, that kills it. What am I going to do with two dynamics processors?

Hi Nathan,

As Bennett suggests, have a look at the 01v96.

I have been using one for nearly 2 years now since they came out and it does everything I need to to, well.

Being able to save scenes in a multi-band lineup is a godsend!

We did a big show the other day where there were lots of bands, soundchecks etc .. We cascaded 2 v96's for FOH, and had 2 cascaded on stage for monitors, running 8 mixes + stereo sidefills (from LR mix) and it worked a treat.
