PM5D Grounding
« on: January 09, 2006, 11:30:24 AM »

Can anybody explain the grounding scheme inside a PM5D?  The ins and outs are both lifted.  I've had hum issues while using a lifted fanout. Dead quiet with a straight fan, but what to do when FOH and Monitor Consoles are both 5Ds? Ideas?

The issue isn't so much the surface's internal topology as is how the rest of the interface is configured.  We've used both hardwire and active splits numerous times with a pair and have no issues with mic splitting. Every now and again if we are doing gigs with local stacks there can be some noise issues, but that's typically due to the config of local system.  If anything the PM5Ds are some of the quietest consoles I've used.

Are you at one of the shows in town?
