Hi,
Newly registered user here. I play bass and run sound (and own the PA) for my band. I've been looking for an upgrade to my current sub system, Wharfedale 2x15, each side. The LAB sub looks very interesting. Not having a lot of time and pretty basic woodworking skills, I came across the EAW LA400. It looks pretty similar, at least in concept. Has anyone heard a set of these?

They arent similar really apart from both being folded horns.

The labhorn is significantly longer resulting in a lower cutoff. It depends on a number of things
boundarys,portability required,maximum size,cutoff required....

Yep, I've used the LA400.  Rather nice very low end rumble, loud for their size. I'd reccomend these to anyone.  They sound incredible in a install that I mix at.

I used to own a bunch of the LA-400 Cabs. We do a ton of school and theater stuff, and a pair of 400's with LA-325's sound pretty nice in a school gym for pep rallies and presentations, and really nice in a theater.
Unfortunately though, we let them all go. We kept blowing out the mids in the 325's (ran them passive), as well as the cap's on the x-over, so we sold them. And I personally HATE using mis-matched cabinets, so the LA-400's had to go to.
After going through a very, very large (and loud) Ramsa system, we decided those were to heavy, and ditched those.
Our current system is a Front loaded "Line Array" type sound system with 4 dual 12" horn loaded subs. We purchased the cbinets empty and decided to load them with none other than the Lab 12 Subs. Saturday was the first time that we used them. And WOW - if you think the 400's put out LF, might I suggest the Labs.

The 400's are great, but if I had a choice, I would find a nicely designed cabinet and load the labs up. I think you would be pleasently supprised, as well as save some ca$h. If you can get the 400's at a decent price, I would say go for it, but pound for pound, look into the Labs.
