Something wrong with uploading Avatars?
« on: September 30, 2005, 05:15:05 PM »

Is there something wrong with the upload avatar function in the "profile" settings?? Rolling Eyes

I have tried several times to change from http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~ronnesta/bilder/kul2.JPG to http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~ronnesta/bilder/laugetliten.JPG, but it seems like it is impossible...
(Yes it is no larger then 80x80 pixels and is in jpg format.)

All I get is the same old avatar even if I get the new one up when previewing before updating the profile...

Anyone who knows what I'm doing wrong?

I found a temporary solution...

You can specify an URL rather than upload a image.

But I still think there is something wrong with the upload avatar function...

Are you using Mozilla Firefox? I noticed with Firefox everytime I tried to change my avatar it kept going back to the old one. However, when I logged in on IE it worked fine.

BTW- your's works fine.

Nope. I'm using IE...

Yes, it's because I'm not using the upload avatar function, but rather use the specify URL thing...

Hmmmm.... Something strange....

The image I'm using in my avatar is this: http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~ronnesta/bilder/Laugelogoliten.jpg (A little better quality then my previous)

When using IE everything looks fine. The one shown as my Avatar and the one shown above are the same...

When using Opera the two images are NOT the same??? Why???

I don't know what it looks like in other browsers like firefox etc...

BTW: I still have to upload with the specify url thing... (I think)...

Edit: The picture is 80*79 pixels...

Edit 2: Hmmm, maybe this is the problem: The picture shown in Opera as my avatar is 79 x 77 pixels....

After playing around with the picture in "the GIMP" with several sizes back and forth, it seems like with 76 x 75 pixels it shows up as it is supposed to in BOTH Opera and IE...

I don't know why though... Rolling Eyes

Strange. The problem with a different image showing up in one browser as opposed to another has to be caching issue with the browser. It looks like it's resolved for you now, though.
