Hi, my band has some pre recorded keyboard tracks that we want to play live. We already done it with a pc and a fast track pro, but are there other options to do it?
Basically, we want to send the keys to the FOH and the click track to the drummers in ears. Computers are the only way to do it?

If the Key tracks do not have to be in stereo then you could use an IPOD. Keys on left channel to the house and click on the right channel to the drummers mix.

Agree with John. In whatever music program you've got pan the keys left and click right then treat them as individual mono channels. Any playback device that works in stereo will work.

That´s a really simple, but yet great idea! I would have to buy the y-cable and that´s all.

To split the stereo track from the source (iPod) into left and right mono inputs.  I doubt the audience wants to hear a click track.

My bad I guess I don't look at that as a y cable even though thats what it is kinda. When I think Y cable I think splitter!

With your songs, ensure that you add 30 seconds (or so) of silence to the beginning and end of each track, as well as click track count-in for the next song. nothing worse than finishing a song and not being able to hit stop on the iPod before a phantom keyboard starts playing on its own...

It is sometimes helpful to be able to see the entire Playlist, (Computer or IPad) Very easy to mess up with an IPod.(At least for me)

I have found it also helps to limit the intro of the music to 1 or 2 seconds from the time you hit play, And 10 or 15 seconds outro at the end.

I also keep a written Playlist (Large Type) and check things off as I go.

Very easy to Pull faders down and tap the Space Bar, You don't even have to look

It takes only a couple seconds to cue up the next song, Tap the Spacebar and run up the faders.

I make space for the computer and que up the ipod as a back-up.

I do Live Theater and this works for me.
