lab 12 homehifi/cinema sub
« on: August 24, 2005, 07:03:46 AM »

Hi to all
I`m new to this Forum and have actually nothing to do with pro audio things. I just heard that the lab 12 has incredible skills for home sub`s too. Does anyone can tell me what enclosure is the "right" one for the lab 12? If this is the wrong place to ask, tell me where to go.
thx

I was just wondering what you guys are using to time align, the top boxes with the subs and hopefully time align the video image with the sound???

In that set up with the Nice flare extensions and the SPL Triks.  Are you running any sort of ISO 2969 correction equalization?  Or are you sizzling your ears with the over emphasised HF listening to movies with a "Flat" tuned system.

It looks like a cool set up though!  I wanna hear Toms PB-12, any in CA?

I'm using a Rane RPM88 multiprocessor.
http://www.rane.com/rpm88.html

My surround processor (B&K Reference 50) takes care of any high frequency emphasis if a DVD has this. Most DVD's now have a sound track balanced for home use.

Those are not SPL Triks they are SPL-td2's.

Incredible skills is over-exaggerated but it has skills indeed. Best of course would be to put it in the labs + extensions as shown by Brad.
If you have a big enough amp available you could use it in a bassrelfex. For home use it would do enough SPL-wise (my guess somewhere around 116 dB, power-compression not taken into account), with an f3 at 30 Hz or lower and about a quarter size of one Lab-sub.
