Replacing a Patch Bay
« on: June 27, 2005, 10:05:35 PM »

I have about a 20 year old TT patch-bay at my facility, which is showing its age, I have many connectors that need to be moved around every which way to make them work, and no amount of cleaning seems to have any effect.  I've also come across several cold-solders over the years which have been quite frustrating.  Anyways, what I'm looking to do is replace the existing patch bay with a custom, pre-wired patch bay and replace the connecting blocks(all soldered) with something like whirlwinds MASS punch blocks, thus eliminating all soldering in the patch bay.  Does this sound possible, is the the recommended method to do this.  I know I could replace all the worn out connectors, but I mainly want to get rid of all the solders. To give you some I idea of the size of the patch bay size it is 26 points per row with about 14 rows.  Thank you for your help guys.
