Thoughts from the road
« on: June 14, 2005, 11:10:56 AM »

I've been running cross country this past few weeks, doing 2 corporate gigs, and moving the rest of my house from Maryland to Arizona. Here is what I have observed:

* Yanking a clear-com cable wrapped around my laptop power cord causes the laptop to slide off the FOH table, drop onto the riser the table is on, and then crash into the floor, breaking the screen!   Shocked

* People who drive purple colored tractor trailers all seem to speed.

* A "Do Not Disturb" sign does not work at the Motel Six in Little Rock! It seems that you are supposed to be up at 7:30 when the maid bangs loudly on your door.

* Professional house movers can load my truck better than I can! My neighbor in Maryland owns a local moving company, and his guys came over and loaded all my furniture in my truck for the ride back. Its such a tight pack, it looks like all my stuff was built to "truck pack" dimensions!

* My wife has too much stuff!  Laughing

Well, back on the road for 5 days of driving across country!

I'm so old, when I was doing FOH for Tommy Dorsey, to balance out the horn section I would slide their chairs downstage and upstage to mix!

What can you possibly mean?

Perhaps you are saying the purple ones speed faster than the other speeders.

Hmmmm... isn't Bonnie Lackey's avatar a purple tractor?

Around here the middle line, the lane divider, is always yellow. Only the outside lane markers are white.

What's the old country song?
White Line Fever?

Around here, we're lucky to see the edges of the road.
Lines?  Maybe on 400N or 450N, but not on 425 or such.
County roads and cornfields quickest way from A to B.
Course up in the big city it's different.
All you got up there is construction.
and more of the same.

guess it's all relative.

I guess you're thinking of interstate highways...cause that's the only time that would be true...I kept thinking...you're driving down the road the wrong way...

For the uninformed, that's one way to tell if you're going the wrong way down a road, that is if the white line is on your left and the yellow on your right...well then whoa..turn around now
