Because the Sharon gov't has ordered that the settlements be abandoned, and some of the settlers have declared their intent to stay.  It's all very interesting in how it pits one right-wing faction against another.

I suppose, after hearing a few news reports of the goings on over there, that they would probably use less 'people friendly' methods on the Palestinians.
