 what exactly is the advantage of this type of horn?



is it so you can have the effect of a dual horn with only one woofer or what?

no not that, i mean having two horns on one woofer. how does having two horns on woofer do anything diffrent then having one? does act like having an actual dual horn, does it make it kick more or what? iv seen a few designs like this where it has two horn mouths for one woofer. what exactly does that do?

The two horns sum to one horn.So treat the two,as one. Then consider how much mouth area and flare length occurs. More HF will make its way out of a horn like this.

  ahh ic so it basicly gives it a brader frequency bandwidth?. so say instead of doing...45hz to 125hz, it would work well with 45hz-250hz? mabey higher?

and i did basicly consider it as one horn. i had the idea in my head that i should try somthing like that modeled after my own design and see how it turned out. i ended up with a higher SPL db rating on lower frequencies then on the original one horn mouth design. so thats why i was woundering why some designs are made that way. i figured it was used to help amplify the dB a bit by using two horns on one woofer to have double the effect (not lituraly double ofcourse)

Splitting the horn is simply an easy way of fitting a short path and large mouth into a box with limited depth - probably near impossible to make a single flare fit.  The short path of this type of box usually limits the low end to around 60Hz, and the multiple sharp bends will limit the top end to maybe 120Hz - hence this design is seldom used nowdays.

Not even 45hz.

Im yet to see some one say 'vocals sound fine coming out of this folded horn'

ahh ic ok. ill stick with my other designs then. i only want the lower frequencies a bass horn will give so. and so far with the design iv got im hittin about 140db at 45hz - 150hz running the driver at its RMS so its not to shabby.

What driver?What about power compression?

what dimensions area easier to transport
the folding,and effect on ease of construction-(my ones are lazy and have minimal mitres)

  my horns are more for installed areas, inside shows and fansy nice clubs or parties and what not. thier called the Emobulus Horns but even tho i named them that, i guess you could call them "pretty boy horns" 18" 2,000watt B&C 18NW100 drivers, they kick pretty good when loaded in a rear chamber about 57-59Lts. in size

im not sure if they are good for truck loading. they measure 25"W x 36"H x 32"D (63.5cmW x 91.44cmH x 81.28cmD)
