EV Xi 2123 Speaker Help
« on: April 13, 2005, 01:41:51 PM »

We just had these speakers installed back in Oct 2003 in out school auditorium as the 2 main speakers. I was not there during the install so I am not sure if they were origionally working properly. The problem is that the mid/high range is barly noticable. Not as far as the frequency but as far as the overall db output. The speakers are in a biamp cfg. The low range seems to be fine though.

The mid/high are connected to pins 3+ & 3- to a QSC 702 amp in Bridge Mono.

The low is connected to pins 1+ and 1- to a QSC 902 amp in Parellel Mono.

The entire system is in mono by the way. I am still in awe as to why.

I am sorry if I come across as almost stupid to some of you professionals. I am just trying to get into pro audio.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Until you understand the intent of the designer, you shouldn't assume he didn't have very good justification for doing the system in mono.

There are any number of reasons why the system may be lacking in the manner you describe. I think you are better off getting approval to have the installer come in (or at least talk to them on the phone) and pick their brains while they evaluate the system and then fix it if it is not working correctly. This way you will completely understand what is going on.   Going this alone is not likely to work out.

Thanks for the advice Tom. I will probably end up calling them in a day or two.
