Protottype X-tro Top
« on: February 25, 2005, 11:26:49 PM »

Hello guys,

We designed a topcabinet which hopefully can also be used with the LAB sub. It is 3-way hornloaded and uses neodynium drivers. It is still under development! Tommorow we will do the first testing of the prototype. You can see some pictures over here:

Drivers in use, X-over points, and othe questions

Walt:

Looks like a very well excecuted prototype.  Your Punisher Subs look very good as well and your performance data indicate that that the box is a solid design. FYI I was able to see the driver out of an EAW LA 400 which is the same driver that EAW uses one of their big horn loaded subs as well, and it is definately an Eminence driver.  I would think that the Ciare 12.00 SW would make for a superior driver.  However, as Ken F mentioned in his answer to your post, he did not like the suspension on the Ciare.

Back to the X-tro.  What drivers are you using? What crossover points are you anticipating?  If you can get access to SMART and some of the other programs, are you going to post any performance graphs?

Have you considered making a punnisher with more LF extension?  Perhaps a sub like 1/2 of a Lab?

It looks like the woofers in the X-Tro are 18Sound neodymium woofers
The 15ND930 to be exact.

The first measurements with RTA showed the 2x15" section reached 80hz. We use 18Sound woofers en B&C mid/high.

We are still modifying the low section to get a better kick and sound out of it.
