The double 8 or single 12 horn is pure hifi. Dimensions of this horn are 100 cm 100 cm 50 cm. Output is low compared to the PA designs, en powerhandling is also low.
The horn is tuned to play down to 30 hz with minimun space. And the horn plays wonderful in the subbass region, with an excelent sound! For hifi use a verry nice cab. I tested the cabinet before the building was finished. Now i only have to do the wireing a mount the last side panel.
For pa the doiuble 8/single 12 wont preform optimal. Untill now i didn't had the time to look at the modifications on this horn for pa preformance. I dont know when i have time to do this.

A short time back Peter had mentioned that there was a gap in DIY 40hz horn designs ,
Now there are four promising Diy designs some are tested and some are in the verge of being tested ,
1, The first was Mike Nz,s ( michael elliston ) design with a JBL2226H driver ,
2, Second is Rory B,s design with a HL10 driver,
3, Third is Michiel Rijckaert,s  design with 2x 10" drivers ,
4, Fourth is the Tuba 36 slim with a 12"or 15"driver by Bill Fitzmaurice ,
may be some more are on the way ??

Where can I find the 2nd and 3rd design, and what dimensions are the Tuba 36 Slim?

The construction plans are attached as zip.

If somebody thinks there is something missing let me know so i can up date the drawings.
Later i will post a simulation pic.

I'n using AJ horn.

Attached: simulated respone for 1, 2 and 4 cabs. Spl is 1 watt at 1 meter. Max spl is 2000 watt per box at one meter (no powercompression).
Note that stacking will increase the effective horn length, i did not simulate this effect; the horn length for one box is simular to the length for the 4 boxes in this simulation.

The excursion at 2000 watt per box will reach the xmax at 40 Hz, above 40 Hz the excursion will be smaller. So the 1200 watt is easy to handle for the mechanic part of the construction.
The max powerhandling depends on the thermical powerhandeling.

According to AJ you will need 5000 watt per box to get a 15 mm excorsion on 40 Hz with a single box. Rolling Eyes I think you will burn the coils faster....
